Holi Pooja is a very important set of rituals, which are performed on the night before Holi. It is believed that devotees can gain tremendous happiness and prosperity in their lives, by performing Holi Pooja, which is done before Holika Dahan.

This day marks the event when Holika, the sister of evil Asura Hiranyakashyap burned to death in the fire that was meant to kill Vishnu-bhakt Prahlad. An effigy of Holika is built at public places and it is set on fire. People of all ages from every family become witnesses to the destruction of Holika and righteousness prevails. Thus, Holika Dahan celebrates the victory of good over evil and it is celebrated by Hindus everywhere.
